A little bit of a rough time

When we were at an "undisclosed location" (to protect the person who's home it happened at because it wasn't their fault!), Parker lost his balance and...



fell into the corner of a dresser. This bump appeared almost immediately.



He cried for only a minute and the bump went down pretty quickly.



He has a bit of a bruise still, but it looks really good for a bump that big!

Tidbits from our Vacation

Some of the funny things that happened:
Sunday when we went to church the walk have not been shoveled and I had open toed shoes on. While holding Parker in one arm, Dave leaned over and put me over his shoulder. He carried us both to the car. Sammie and I were laughing so hard and even people driving by in their cars were totally cracking up. Can you picture it, me in a skirt leaned over Dave's shoulder. It was a good one.

Josh and Dave noticed our car got a mohawk during the show storm.


Later that night we had meatloaf. I make it in muffin tins. There was enough for one after I baked a whole batch. So, Sammie said I should cook it and she'd eat it later. She put it in the oven. I went to put kids to bed and she was playing Halo with the guys (yeah because she's that awesome and can keep up with the guys). Well... we both forgot about the meatloaf. When I mentioned that I forgot about she told me she had too and to take a look at it. It was the crispiest piece of meat I'd ever seen. I should have taken a picture.

Then the best was our hotel room at The Winner's Casino in Winnemucca. The exterior was pretty shady which we expected for $35 a night. When we walked in, this is what we found...

Yep, all the furniture was on the bed. We cracked up. What was the deal? Well after a while, I realized the boys feet and pants were wet. It turned out they had just cleaned the carpets and they were still wet. So, we kept our shoes on the rest of the night. (Expect Parker's footed pj's, I had to use the blow dryer to dry them off).

We went to BYU and ran into Ruth's sister Katie. She works in the Dean's Office, but I thought she also (still) worked at the Bowling Alley. So, we stopped by to see if she was there. So was, but just to eat her lunch with her friends. What was our chances? There you go Ruth... a picture of your sis.


We went and saw my Aunt Lrae. I always love seeing her. She is my mom's sister. She is a hoot. We had a short visit, but it was great to see her.

Highlights

On our way into Utah we each discussed some of the things we'd like to do on our "vacation." On my list was a visit to The Brick Oven. I just think it is tasty and I also enjoy their rootbeer.



There was this fantastic balloon artist at the restuarant. He made Josh this Leonardo Ninja Turtle. Pretty awesome. He made Parker a monkey (how perfect). Apparently, this balloon artist made a dinosaur out of the balloons the size of a school bus for the Thanksgiving Point Exhibit. That is talent!


Another highlight, as always, is a visit with Emily and Cliff. They are David's great-aunt & uncle. It is a snowy day, so they had us over for homemade chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate (with mini marshmallows). We just love the time we get with them. We appreciate their interest in us and love to hear about them and their families.



Of course we took a few more pictures than these. So here are a few extra. The first ones are of the boys trying to get Jewels (the cat) out from under the bed.

A last minute trip to Utah

Dave and I decided fairly last minute to pack up and head to Utah. We had a good trip out. It was really foggy when we got to Utah. The worst fog I'd even been in, but we made it safely.

The only thing Josh had on his mind was getting in the snow. So, after a trip to DI for boots and Walmart for pants, we headed to the front yard of Jared & Sam's. It made our day!

Great-Grandma & Great-Grandkids

We took all the great-grandkids and Gramma to get their pictures taken together. The process was pretty funny to have all of us parents squeezed behind the photographer, trying to make our kids smile. I am so glad we had a chance to get this picture while we were all together.

A night out with the Mills cousins

We all got together and went to a King's game. This was our first "just cousins" get together. It was a lot of fun. We were only minus two Jordan and Courtney. It was fun to be all together as family and do something different.
Some of the highlights of the night:
- Fallon totally won a Round Table pizza. We were way at the top. All of us were cheering. The gal giving the pizza away ran all the way up the stairs and around right to Fallon. It was awesome.
- The King's actually won
- Thankfully they didn't go into overtime
- I enjoyed a chicken basket with fries
- The lady taking this blurry picture above (the best shot we got) totally almost fell backwards while taking the shot. Man would we have felt bad! You can make out who was there though.

It was a great time and we look forward to doing more cousins things in the future!

Women's Conference 2009

I went to Women's Conference as a Young Single Adult twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. So, this year (since I will not be producing a baby or nursing one at the time of conference...) I am going. I extend the invitation to anyone who would like to join me. It is April 30th- May 1st. I am looking forward to being uplifted and having some fun! Here is a little information from the Women's Conference website:

Friends we saw during the holidays

One of my best friends, Rebecca, was in town for Christmas. Her and her husband James (couple on the left) have recently moved to Kansas City, Missouri. So, now she is way farther away than Utah (where I was hoping we'd catch up for Women's Conference), but what can you do. They came into town for Christmas this year and we was able to meet her newest addition Dillon and see how big Kaitlyn has gotten. Then a double bonus, our friends Mike & Mary Jo were in town also! We haven't seen them is over 2 years and were happy to get a little time to catch up with them also.



So, now we all have children and here is the crew from left to right: Jack (Mike & Mary Jo's son), Josh and Parker, Kaitlyn and Dillon. Can't you tell they're all really excited to be that picture together.

It was great to see everyone for the short time we had. We miss all of you and hope some day we really will get away on a cruise all together, or something!

Aunt Diana, David's aunt, has decided to join the "blogosphere." You'll have to check out her blog from time to time. I always find her commentary honest and funny.

Happy Anniversary

We celebrated our 6th anniversary this past weekend. We actually spent part of our evening out at one of my friend's Wedding Open House. Then we were off to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. There was a long wait, but it was worth

it. Our food was delicious. We enjoyed the "kidless" time together.

Our tradition for anniversaries are no gifts and instead we go for a night to the mountains to enjoy the snow. Last year we took the boys and had so much fun. We will do the same, sometime this month. (Next year though, we start the snowboarding lessons for Josh. So we can slowly get the kids on the slops with us. We don't get to go very often.)

It was a great evening to celebrate our special occasion.

Happy New Year!

We have had a lot fun this past week with our family and friends. So much blogging to do, but too little time to do it. For now here are some highlights from New Year's. We spent the evening at David's Uncle Keven and Aunt Teresa's home. It was probably one of the best New Year's I've ever had. We had so much fun playing games and hanging out. There are a couple more little one's now, so it makes it especially fun to get them all together. There is much more fun to be had, I can feel it!
