The other day I decided it was time to redecorate the boy's bathroom. When I came home from Target I told Josh I bought him a new bathroom. He was confused and excited. He wondered how I was going to take down the walls. I told him I'd go to work and come get him when the new bathroom was complete.
When I was done, he was so excited he wanted to model it for me.
New bathroom also means a clean bathroom, so he was safe laying on the floor.
He kept thanking me all day and the next day for his "new" bathroom. It doesn't take much to please this sweet kid of mine.
I found this idea on a craft blog. You need two candle stick holders, two glass cylinders, and Superglue adhesive (any kind of adhesive that works on glass). I was just in luck when I went to my local $1 Tree. They had all the items I needed for the project, including the candles.
I was going to tie some ribbon on the base of them, but they look cute the way they are. I think I'll put something green in them for St. Patrick's day. This is also a great idea for wedding centerpiece accents.
We are excited that our friends Scot, Amy, and Larkin have moved to Rocklin. Parker and Larkin have become fast friends
Parker: "Don't show this to the other girls, they might get jealous." Larkin: "But look at me, I'm irresistible" Larkin: "Oh Parker, you're just so just so good to me" Parker: "I know, hold on this one's a big bite."
My friend Tiffany celebrated an important birthday this month (wink, wink). As a treat, for both of us, we went out to lunch without kids to celebrate.
Tiffany is a great person and friend. I am thankful for all the gals in my life that make it easy to be myself. Happy Birthday Tiffany!
We started a tradition last year of a cousin's get together. Last year we went to the King's game, this year we went to the snow. We had such a fun time together. It's great because we are all fairly close in age and we get along well. I just love it.
That night after naps and showers, we headed to Costa Vida for dinner. It makes me so grateful to be part of a big family.

It was my parent's last "California" Christmas. They moved to Utah two weeks afters the holidays. So, it was important to me that we do something special as a family. We hosted Christmas Eve dinner. After dinner we visited our new family member, Sharon, who is also a my neighbor. Then we went out for our Surganovich family tradition, looking at Christmas lights. We now have a suburban (which I completely love) and could fit the whole family comfortably. We saw some pretty awesome music and light displays, then headed back to our house to dessert. Then of course, the boys had to get to bed for Santa!

Parker insisted on wearing his Scooby costume, which he barely wore on Halloween. He must have his holidays confused.

Another highlight was Christmas morning. We were delighted to have Sharon join us Christmas morning to open gifts with us. Josh and Parker were thrilled with their gifts. Santa knew them well. A robot for Parker, which he was so fascinated with. For Josh, what else, Ninja Turtles.
Then there were more festivities. Christmas continued at Grandpa and Grandma Mills' home. Then off to Gramma Jean's for Christmas brunch. Last stop, my parents for more gifts and a lasagna dinner.
One event not pictured was The Monteith Family Party. Oh man, it was fantastic! We have a talent show and it was well done. There is now a trophy that is passed year to year from winner to winner. You better believe we're winning that trophy this year. Bring it on Monteiths!
What a spectacular Christmas season with our families!
We celebrated our 7th Anniversary on Sunday and it was just lovely. We took a few pictures, but for some reason they've disappeared on our camera. These past few days we have been in the middle of packing and moving my parents. It has been busy, needless to say! So when our anniversary came on Sunday, David was the one who was so thoughtful and planned a date for us.
My day started off with a beautiful corsage to wear to church. It was so sweet and everyone wanted to know the special occasion. David had to work on Saturday night, so when we got home Sunday afternoon, he was dressed for a date and smelling good. He arranged for our boys to go to the Henrie's home for two hours, so we could enjoy a candlelit dinner together. He used my darling new plates and bowls I got for Christmas (I'll have to post a picture) and some beautiful flowers for me. He made potato soup (from scratch) in bread bowls and salad. It was such a nice evening to reminisce and talk about our new year. I really appreciate my husband and his desire to make our day special.
Before we took the boys, we watched our wedding DVD. Josh thought it was so fun. He loved seeing all our family. My dad had a mustache then, so when Josh saw it he asked, "Did he put it on or did he grow it?"
My gratitude has grown even more for my husband over the last year. He has been so flexible and supportive when I have had other responsibilities to take care of. He works with me to take care of our home and is a hands on dad who understands that our children are both of our responsibility. I appreciate and love him so much.
