What a crack up!

Josh just cracks me up! Especially lately since his vocabulary has improved even more. So, here are a few things he said that just made me laugh.

Mom: Josh, we need to change your diaper. Eewwh, it smells like.... (pause while I pull down his pants)
Josh: Cinnamon rolls?

I forgot to put his seat belt on when it was raining out. When started to drive and he yells, "Moooommm, your forgot to put my seatbelt on. I am going to blow away and die." (He is a little dramatic)

While looking at pictures of Parker he said, "That cute Parkeroni!"

Mom: Josh, why are you so cute?
Josh: 'Cause I look like daddy-o

Grandma S: You are the cutest big boy in the whole world!
Josh: No Gramma, I'm just a boy (serious face).

Josh: Parker doesn’t have teeth he can’t drink out of a straw

Mom: You don’t need teeth to drink out of a straw

Josh: No, you just need a mouth

I'll post more when I think of them.

Counting our blessings...

This morning at 6:15 am our phone rang. When I answered, I was surprised to hear David on the other end. I thought maybe he forgot something important. Instead, he told me he was okay and had just been involved in a bad car accident. Trying to avoid a 3 car accident while merging onto the Capital City freeway, he was hit by a semi-truck's wheels. His car spun hitting one car, then the momentum spun him again stopping perpendicular in front of the car he hit. (It was crazy to turn on the news and see his car way out there on the road.) Thankfully!, he was not injured. Can't say the same for our 2001 Ford Focus. You can see the indent of the truck's tire on the front of the car. Unfortunately for us, the truck driver didn't stop. Even then, who cares I am just so happy to have my Dave-o in one piece!! We are counting our blessings today!

The cutest baby with an eye patch!

Valentine's Day was extra eventful for our Parker-roni. If you haven't seen Parker in person, you probably notice from his pictures that he has a lazy eye. We went to the pediatric ophthalmologist on Thursday to take a look at the problem. Dr. Satterfield was very nice. She dilated Parker's eyes and was able to entertain him enough to take a look at them. He has something called strabismus. It is basically when an eye or eyes are unaligned. In Parker's case both eyes are affected. He is also near sighted like myself and David. The first thing we were assigned to work on is helping him with focusing his eyes. Therefore, we now have a little pirate. His left eye is more turned in than the right, so we are trying to strengthen it. Next, he is going to have surgery to correct the strabismus. She will adjust the length of the muscles on both the horizontal muscles and vertical muscles around both eyes. He is scheduled for surgery on March 12th. It will be an out patient surgery and he should feel fine by the next day. This kind of problem is genetic and Parker received it from my side of the family. My youngest brother Chad, who is 19, had a patch, glasses, and surgery by age 3. There is a chance Parker may need glasses as a child, but it is not for sure.
Parker always gets a lot of attention everywhere we go. Everyone has to stop and take a look at him and his cute cheeks. Now, we get double the attention with the eye patch and it has only been two days! Josh is very protective of his brother, so if anyone looks at him too long he puts his arms around him to make sure he's okay. The only thing I am going to have to watch out for is that Josh got a hold of one of Parker's patches today and tried to put it on him. The problem was, he already had one on and he was going for the other eye. I will make sure to take a picture the day I find Parker with both eyes patched!

Will you be mine?

We had a great Valentine's Day! This year there was a lot of preparation involved, but all our Valentine's turned out and got delivered! Josh made a list of the people he wanted to give Valentine's to. This list included Brooke & Celine, "all the boys" (Uncle Josh, Matt-man, Andrew, Mark, & Riley), Chloe & Addie, our neighbors Caesar & Marissa, Auntie Janell & Uncle Peter, Gramma Jean, Aunt Teri, Aunt Diana, Grandpa & Grandma Mills, & Grandpa & Grandma Surganovich. There were a few uncles & an aunt, who's Valentine's didn't make it in the mail. Sorry, we still love you! We made all kinds of visits in the morning. Aunt Diana had a new gaming waiting for Josh. He was very excited. Josh got to enjoy an afternoon with Gramma Jean and Aunt Teri on top of all the other fun. They went to Panera and had cream of broccoli soup. Josh had a great time with them. It was Parker's first Valentine's day. As you can see it was eventful for him, but not in the same way as for Josh. It was fun to celebrate with our family of 4 this year!

February Birthday's

This month is such a special one it's birthday time for... (okay I was in primary 3 1/2 years I can't help it). We got to celebrate and remember a few people this month. February 1st is David's grandfather DeVerl's birthday. We all thought of him on this day. While I never had the chance to meet him, I feel like I know him from all the wonderful stories I have heard. Next was, Dorene's birthday. We were happy to take time to celebrate her and all she does for us. It happened to be Super Bowl Sunday, Dorene's favorite Sunday of the year! (Yeah right!) We had a great spread and lots of fun with the family. Then on February 7th we celebrated Peter's birthday, our brother in-law. I don't have any pictures of the event, but it was great fun with a taco bar and delicious chocolate cake. We are so happy to have Peter as part of our family. I knew the day would come...

I always wondered what the incident would be that would just set me on fire. For our friend Kim it was her daughter taking scissors to their laundry and her dress for her sister's wedding. For my friend Ruth, I think it was a fish food incident with her daughter. For me it was a milk shaking like no one has ever seen!
So where was I... I had to give Parker a bath. Josh was watching Backyardigans (this is a usual thing). It was probably about 5 minutes since I had been in the room. He must have turned it upside down and just shook. It was on the computer, couch, ottoman, carpet, tv, pillows, picture frames, Dave's camp equipment, Parker's play gym, my rocking chair, and our printer. Needless to say, he got a good time out and still there as we speak. Children teach us things about ourselves we never knew! I am sure I will find more milk spots in the next few days.
